The 2009 renovation work is progressing nicely with the classrooms ready for paint. This includes the three renovated classrooms, music and art rooms. The south addition concrete masonry walls are complete and slabs are being finished this week. The west addition walls are going up and the slabs are in place. Reconstruction of the auditorium is underway with completion scheduled for early winter. A new water line has been installed north of the building to accommodate the new fire sprinkler system being installed in the building. The new locker rooms, weight room and training room under floor plumbing is underway so that slabs can be poured in the near future.

North East Classroom Renovations – All demolition and asbestos abatement is complete. New exterior walls framed and sheathing going on. Electrical and mechanical rough-in work in progress. Interior masonry walls near completion. Masonry repairs to existing walls will start next week.
Auditorium/Hallways – Asbestos abatement complete.
South Addition – Structural masonry walls in progress.
North Addition – Foundation waterproofing and insulation complete. Backfill complete. Slab work to start next week.
West Addition – Foundations near completion. Foundation insulation going on after waterproofing.

Interior work includes electrical and mechanical rough-in along with asbestos abatement. The north addition foundations are completed and backfilled. The west addition foundations will be poured next week. The south addition has masonry going up.

Asbestos abatement of the auditorium/commons area is near completion. Demolition work in Area A (2009 Renovation area) is complete and reconstruction has started. The south addition foundation has been backfilled and is being prepared for slabs. The north addition foundation wall have been poured. The west addition foundation footers are poured. Site utility work continues.

The first half of the 2009 asbestos abatement is complete along with most of the demolition in the 2009 renovation area. Foundations for the south addition are almost complete with foundation water proofing and insulation complete. North and west additions have the foundation footers mostly complete. The new water and sewer taps are in place.
5/26/2009
Interior demolition in preparation for asbestos abatement is complete. Abatement contractor is preparing the building for his abatement work. Foundations for the additions are in progress.
8/14/2008 The current Gunnison High School building was built in 1964 and does not serve 21st century faculty and student needs. We are exploring options including addition, remodel and replacement.
